Hot Air Balloon and Gnome 3D Shadow Box SVG Layered Papercut
‘Harvesting Wishes’
When you wish upon a star have you ever wondered where that wish goes?
Meet Norman the gnome. Norman is a special type of gnome called a Star Farmer. Late at night when everyone is asleep, Norman hops into his hot air balloon and silently drifts up into the night sky.
Tethered to the balloon basket, he carefully reaches out with his net to harvest the stars that have become full with wishes. He pops them in his balloon basket and takes them back to the factory, where the wishes are extracted ready to be granted. Norman then travels back into the sky and places the stars back in their original position before sunrise. The empty stars are now ready to be filled again with more wishes.
Hot Air Balloon and Gnome 3D Shadow Box SVG Layered Papercut
This hot air balloon and gnome 3D shadow box paper cut is part collage and is made from several layers of coloured paper with LED lights at the back to make the stars shine. It features a cute gnome, hot air balloons and lots of stars.
Once complete, this shadow box would look great as a decoration in a child’s bedroom.
The files include full assembly instructions, showing how to put your collage pieces and layers together, before placing them in your shadow box frame. So be sure to download them. I have also created a tutorial video for this shadow box which you will find on my Sea Salt and Samphire YouTube channel.
The materials you will need to complete this project, in addition to these templates are:
- A square shadow box frame
- LED micro/rice lights
- Various coloured papers/card for the shadow box layers
- Foam board or corrugated card to create the spacers
- Glue
There are files that can be used with a cutting machine such as a Cricut or Silhouette or you can download and print the hand cutting files and cut with a craft knife/scalpel.
There are hand cutting templates (PDF) to create an 8” x 8” version or a 9” x 9” version of the shadow box.
All the machine cutting files (SVG, DXF, EPS) can be resized in your cutting software if needed.
*Please note the SVG files will only work in the desktop version of CanvasWorkspace (Scan N Cut software), they will not work in the web/online version as it has more limited capabilities than the desktop version.
